Challenge — The Long Island Chapter of PMI® is a local chapter of the Project Management Institute International (PMI.org) that serves the geographic area of Nassau and Suffolk counties in New York State. Founded in 1999, the Chapter was the first in New York State to become incorporated (June 2000), and has grown in membership to almost 900 members, representing more than 400 different Long Island and New York City employers. The organization holds ten meetings a year is designed to foster networking, educate project management professionals and provide a forum for its members to sustain their PMP® Certification, and numerous other certifications. They also host training and educational seminars. The VP of Marketing reached out to B2B Marketing Strategies to fill the roll of Social Media Director to promote the various activities of the organization.
Approach — Developed a 2-year strategic plan for 2013-2015, covering the current state of social media engagement in their primary outlets (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) and set metrics in support of organizational outreach goals. Hired event photographer and videographer and wrote social posts using Hootsuite.
Results — Exceeded engagement goals. Increased attendance at training seminars. Increased meeting attendance.
